Confessions Of An Audio Book Junkie!!!!
My name is Eileen and I am an audio book junkie.
I confess that this addiction has gone on some 29 years. It was 1982 when life necessitated driving, with my two small children, many times a month from Bakersfield to Los Angeles. The 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hour drive (depending on traffic) down and return trip that night became, became, how can I put it . . . boring! And dangerous!! I mean to tell ya driving in LA is bad enough but staying alert for that drive home became unbearable. Action had to be taken!! Music? Pills? Snacks? Coffee?
Nothing satisfied, I craved a different type of entertainment.
Finally I got my fix.
A new library was built by our home. This big new library was big on white. Big white walls inside and out, white cathedral ceilings, white stairs, white chairs, yes, yes, very big on white. But small on books.
It appeared they had forgotten to budget money for books.
But . . . this big white white place became like floating clouds in heaven to me--it had an audio book section.
My salvation!! I was hooked!
So . . . you never make long boring drives? (What long drive isn't boring?)
Do you love books and wish you had
more time to read them?
Do you ever . . .
WAIT IN AIRPORTS, HOSPITALS, DOCTORS OFFICES? NO? HOW ABOUT . . . COOK? GO TO THE GYM? CLEAN THE HOUSE? WALK THE DOG? WEED THE GARDEN?
DO YOU EVER . . . WANT TO BE TAKEN TO ANOTHER WORLD DURING YOUR LUNCH HOUR?
(HANDS FREE TO GOBBLE DOWN YOUR FOOD!)
Take it from someone who knows, it is fantastic to go outside kickback in my loungechair, sunglases neatly in place, glass of wine in hand AND be wonderfully entertained--mind theater--can't beat it!
How about relax? Do you ever just relax? No? Shame on you!
